Parenting is hard no matter what, whether you’re at home or out exploring the world. Traveling undoubtedly means moments of chaos and meltdowns, but it also leads to great stories and a chance to be truly present with my kids. I always vote for taking the trip.
We went on our first euro adventure with the boys last summer and I haven’t stopped talking about how perfect Portugal is for families. Kids aren’t just accepted, the Portuguese go out of their way to make children (and their parents) feel welcome.
We booked a week at the magical São Lourenço do Barrocal in the heart of the Alentejo, which is consistently named one of the best hotels in Europe for families (and in general!). We wanted slow living and wow did it deliver. Tom and I also had to get back to Comporta—a place we fell in love with for it's casual Montauk-like vibe and pristine Atlantic Ocean beaches.
