I was in Chicago this week and got my first snowfall of the season, which left me day dreaming of warmer temps.

When we were on our first parental leave, we spent a month in Eleuthera and neighboring Harbour Island. Often called the Nantucket of the Bahamas, we fell for its charm and now return to Harbour Island every Feburary. We love exploring new places, but there’s something to be said about building memories with the kids in the same place year after year. They grow older, but time on Harbour Island stands perfectly still.

Briland, as it’s called by the locals, is a tiny, 3.5 mile long, car-free island. Home to just 1,500 people, everyone is friendly and quickly feels familiar. The British colonial architecture flavored with bright, Bahamian colors, pink sand beaches, turquoise water, and delicious restaurants + side of the road snack shacks, make for a perfect vacation.

This is the hard part, but I promise well worth it! There are no direct flights from NYC, but…
